Grant Audit: Transparent and Compliant with Donor Requirements
A grant project audit is an independent verification of expenses and supporting documents, necessary to confirm the targeted use of funds and compliance with the grant agreement. Based on the results, we prepare an Auditor’s Report (or a report on Agreed-Upon Procedures, if required by the donor) and recommendations for eliminating identified deficiencies. ProAudit auditors will help you identify risks before submitting the report and pass the donor’s check without unnecessary questions.
We will help you
- confirm the accuracy of expenses in project reporting;
- verify the existence and correctness of primary documents;
- check compliance of expenses with the budget and grant conditions;
- identify risks (including procurement/contractors/salaries) before submitting the report to the donor;
- prepare clear recommendations for correcting deficiencies.
When is a grant audit needed?
- Contract Requirement: Audit is specified in the Grant Agreement or Terms of Reference (ToR) as a mandatory requirement;
- Tranche Confirmation: Before releasing the next tranche, the donor requires independent confirmation: Audit or Agreed-Upon Procedures (AUP);
- Complex Expenditure Structure: The project involves procurement, contractors, travel expenses, foreign currency transactions;
- Reputation: You need confirmation of the report on the targeted use of the grant for future applications.
What does a grant audit include?
Depending on the donor’s requirements and reporting format, the audit may include:
- Analysis of the grant agreement, project budget, donor rules, and reporting deadlines;
- Agreement on the scope of verification and sampling;
- Verification of expenses and supporting documents according to project budget lines;
- Reconciliation with accounting records and project bank statements;
- Preparation of the report and a Management Letter with observations and recommendations.
